On your first visit to our clinic, we will take a full medical history and discuss your specific symptoms, problems, and treatment goals with you.
With your consent, your physiotherapist will complete a physical assessment of the muscles, joints, and tissues of the pelvic floor, hips, and lower back. This may include internal and external examinations to identify the affected tissues that may be contributing to your urinary, bowel, or pelvic pain symptoms.
Your initial visit will take approximately 55 minutes and will provide plenty of time for questions to ensure you understand your condition and treatment plan.
The latest hands-on techniques for releasing trigger points, muscle tightness, and joint stiffness in the lower back, hips, and pelvis may contribute to your problem.
An individualized exercise program may include soft tissue release, breathing exercises, postural exercises, stretching, and strengthening for the pelvic floor, core, lower back, and hips.
Biofeedback and breathing techniques help retrain weak, dysfunctional, or tight pelvic floor muscles. You learn how to use the pelvic floor muscles more effectively, which can help improve incontinence and pain.
Knowledge is power! Understanding your condition helps you take control of your problem and is vital to your recovery.
This may include the use of heat, cold, trans-electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), guided imagery, breathing, and relaxation techniques.
